Hoppip Amigurumi Pattern

Hoppip Amigurumi by loopycathrine

YARN & HOOK

  • 2mm hook

  • Stylecraft Special DK in Blush and Meadow

  • Yellow felt

  • Burgundy embroidery floss

  • Fibres in Black and Burgundy needle felting*

  • Needle felting tool*

  • Polyester toy filling

  • 1 x pipe cleaner

  • Pins to place pieces before sewing together

  • Darning needle

  • Stitch markers (I prefer using scrap yarn as “stitch markers”)

* Please note that I have used needle felting to create the burgundy outline around Hoppip’s yellow eyes. Needle felting is still quite new to me so I will not be including instructions on how to do this. You may want to look into alternative ways of creating the outline. You could for instance use the burgundy embroidery floss to sew around the eyes...

ASSEMBLY

Assemble in the same order the pattern is written. I would recommend using a photo of Hoppip as reference for best possible outcome. Pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right, including the felt pieces - Once all the crocheted pieces are attached use fabric glue to attach the felt pieces.

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.Right side (rs) facing put two leaves together and use the long ends from one of the leaves to sew down the side. Insert your pipe cleaner at the top of Hoppip’s head, pull it half way through and fold up. This should make the leaf a little bit sturdier. If needed adjust the size of the pipe cleaner by folding down the top so that you can wrap the open side of the leaf around it. Pin the bottom of the leaf to the head and sew the rest of the leaf together around the pipe cleaner.Repeat for the above for the second leaf.

FELT PIECES & NEEDLE FELTING & EMBROIDERY FLOSS

Cut out 4 round pieces of Yellow felt. 2 of them will be eyes, and the other 2 go under the feet.

Use a little bit of Burgundy fibre and needle felt the outline around the yellow eyes.

Use the Black fibre to needlefelt the black parts inside Hoppip’s ears.

Using Burgundy embroidery floss sew on Hoppip’s smile.
