YARN & HOOK

  • 2mm hook

  • Stylecraft Special DK in Powder Pink, Fondant & Midnight

  • 9mm Black safety eyes

  • Black embroidery floss

  • Polyester toy filling

  • Pins to place pieces before sewing together

  • Darning needle

  • Stitch markers (I prefer using scrap yarn as “stitch markers”)

Mime Jr is approximately 12.5cm tall.Weight: 30grams (this includes all materials used to make Mime Jr)

STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS – UK ENGLISH

ch chain

dc double crochet

sl st slip stitch

inc dc 2 in one st

dec decrease; insert hook in the front loop of the next two sts, yarn over, pull through both loops, y.o. and pull through remaining two loops –> one dc placed into two sts

ASSEMBLY

Assemble in the same order the pattern is written. I would recommend using a photo of Mime Jr as reference for best possible outcome. Pin all the pieces in place before sewing to make sure it looks right.

Starting with Powder Pink

Round 1: dc 6 in Magic Ring (6)

R2: inc in all sts around (12)

R3: (dc, inc) x 6 (18)

R4: (dc, inc, dc) x 6 (24)

R5: dc 24

R6: (dc 3, inc)x 6 (30)

R7: (dc 2, inc, dc2) x 6 (36)

Place the first 9mm safety eye in the 10th st of R10, and the second safety eye in the 17th st of R10.

Stuff the head firmly

Do not fasten off yet – we will now split the bottom of the body into 2 legs

FIRST LEG

R27: dc 2, dec x 3, dc 2 (7), skip the remaining 14 stitches, work next round in these 7 sts only

R28: dc 7

Fasten off. Weave in loose end by inserting darning needle in the back loop of each st and pull tight to close the hole.

Stuff the body

SECOND LEG

R27: Going back to the 14 unworked sts, skip the first 2 sts and attach the yarn to the 3rd unworked st, leave a long tail at the start as we will use this to sew together the middle of the legs, dc in the same st, dc in the next st, dec x 3, dc 2 (7), skip the last 2 sts of the round in these 7 sts only

R28: dc 7

Fasten off. Weave in loose end by inserting darning needle in the back loop of each st and pull tight to close the holeStuff the remaining body if needed, and then use the long tail at the start of the second leg to sew together the 4 unworked stitches (2 at the front and 2 at the back).

BOBBLE EDGING ON DRESS

Yarn: Powder Pink

Make 8

Round 1: dc 6 in Magic Ring (6)

R2: (inc, dc 2) x 2 (8)

R3: dc 8

Fasten of and leave a long end to sew the piece onto body.

Pin all 8 pieces along the unworked front loops of R18 of the body. Once pinned evenly around, sew into place.

NOSE

Round 1: inc in second ch from hook, inc in the next two chains. Continue to the other side of the chains: inc in the three chains (12)
