HEAD & BODY

The head and body will be worked as on piece from top to bottom.

Yarn: Gold

Round 1: dc 6 in Magic Ring (6)

R2: inc in all sts around (12)

R3: (dc, inc) x 6 (18)

R4: (dc 2, inc) x 6 (24)

R5: (dc 3, inc) x 6 (30)

R6: (dc 4, inc) x 6 (36)

R7: (dc 5, inc) x 6 (42)

R8: dc 42

R9: (dc 6, inc) x 6 (48)

R10: dc 48

R11: (dc 7, inc) x 6 (54)

R12-14: dc 54

R15: (dc 7, Dec) x 6 (48)

Note: be sure to mark where the first sts of R15 and R16 are. The safety eyes will be placed between these two rows. Further instructions on exact placement a little further along. But first we need to complete the head and continue with the first part of the body. Before we move on I just wanted to check in… Are you reading this somewhere other than www.loopycathrine.com? Did you pay for it? Then you have been dooped. This is a free pattern on the above mentioned website only. Please head over there and let me know where you found it, report the seller on the platform you purchased the pattern and claim your money back. Thank you!

R16: dc 48

R17: (dc 6, Dec) x 6 (42)

R18: dc 42

R19: (dc 5, Dec) x 6 (36)

R20: (dc 4, Dec) x 6 (30)

R21: (dc 3, Dec) x 6 (24)

R22: (dc 2, Dec) x 6 (18)

The head is now complete and we will be working on the body without fastening off. You can start stuffing the head at this point. You will see that the placement of the increases differs from that of the head, as we will now be creating a slightly oval shape.

R23: *dc 6, (inc) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (24)

R24-25: dc 24

R26: *dc 6, (dc, inc) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (30)

R27-28: dc 30

R29: *dc 6, (dc 2, inc) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (36)

R30-31: dc 36

Before we finish off the body we are going to place the safety eyes and the muzzle.

Locate rows 15 and 16, the safety eyes will be places between these two rows. From the beginning of the rounds count 23 sts, place the first eye here, count another 7 sts and place the second eye in the 30th st. Only put the washers on very lighty as we also need to place and attach the muzzle. Place one of the long sides of the muzzle underneath the two eyes, pin it in place so that the top edge aligns between rows 14 and 15. Sew the muzzle in place tighten the washers on the safety eyes.

Once the eyes and the muzzle are attached, start stuffing the rest of the head and body and continue with the last few rounds of the body:

R32: *dc 6, (dc 2, dec) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (30)

R33: *dc 6, (dc, dec) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (24)

R34: *dc 6, (dec) x 3**, repeat from *to** twice in total (18)

R35: (dc, dec) x 6 (12)

R36: dec x 6 (6)

Fasten off and sew in loose end.

NOSE & SMILE & MOON

I would recommend using a photo of Teddiursa for reference for best possible outcome.Use white felt and cut out a moon and place it on Teddiursa's face. Make sure the moon is wide enough so that a mm or two on either side can be pushed underneath the safety eyes. See below photo. Do not glue the moon on just yet. We will leave this until the very end.Use the moon's placement and a photo of Teddiursa to work out the best place to sew a nose and smile using black embroidery floss. I sewed the nose between rows 3-4 of the muzzle which is just underneath where I placed the moon. The mouth is roughly in the middle of the muzzle.

Stuff both ears lightly and only in one side of the ear. The stuffed sides should face the middle of the head. Pinch the sides of the ears that face outward to make them flatUse black felt and cut out two round pieces that look a little bit like quotation marks, and place them on the flat edges with the pointy bit facing outward. See below photos or a photo of Teddiursa for reference.

ASSEMBLY

Muzzle has already been attached. Eyes, nose and smile should also be complete. Use pins to place the remaining limbs onto Teddiursa's body and start attaching.Fold the arm on the left upward and attach to Teddiursa's face.Once all pieces are attached use fabric glue to attach the moon. Make sure you push the bottom sides of the moon underneath the safety eyes - look back at my close up of Teddiursa for reference.
