Fire Flower Amigurumi Pattern
Fire Flower is the final pattern in my series of Super Mario amigurumis. At least for now. I think this is the one that took the most effort and I am beyond pleased with the outcome! I love it when I try to be a bit extra creative with stitch placement and increases to create certain shapes.
The pattern consists of two YouTube videos:
Part 1: Flower (Sun, 18 Jan at 17:00GMT)
Part 2: Stem & Leaves (Sun, 25 Jan at 17:00GMT)
The flower/head is made up of two of the same pieces sewn together. There’s a lot of working in front loops, back loops and into multiple stitches. This is what makes the piece flat. It’s really hard to explain in short how I’ve made it, so I hope my video clearly shows what you need to do.
I’ve also played around with front and back loop crocheting at the top of the stem, which creates a lovely, natural bend. I haven’t used any wire or pipe cleaners in mine, so it’s sort of floppy when you hold it up. So if you want your Fire Flower to be able to stand up on its own then you may want to add that. I’ve chosen not to add any as I don’t want it to accidentally poke out and hurt someone. That’s something to be mindful of if you’re gifting your Fire Flower to someone.
But that’s enough of me rambling on in a section I very much doubt anyone reads anyway. Let’s get into the details!

THE PATTERN
PART ONE | FLOWER
I have used Stylecraft Special DK in White, Citron and Matador to crochet the flower.
For this part you will also need safety eyes. However if you don’t have oval safety eyes you can create eyes using black felt or sew them using embroidery floss. I really love the oval safety eyes I get from Etsy. They’re not as oval as they are on the actual characters, but works for me!
PART TWO | STEM & LEAVES
I have used Stylecraft Special DK in Kelly Green
Coming Sunday, 25 Jan at 17:00GMT!
